Highlights for October Business Meeting
Nominating Team
The Nominating Team presented their nominations for Sunday School Teachers and Teacher Alternates to the church membership for approval. All nominated teachers agreed to their nomination, and all were approved by the Church Membership.
Youth Ministry Team The Youth Ministry Team reported that they have been richly blessed by God. Attendance on Wednesday nights have ranged from 23-25 students. The students have set the goal of 50 in attendance for themselves. Sunday nights are averaging about 10. At the last 5th Quarter, they had 50 students. Jeremy developed a new outreach ministry call Cross Fire. This is an activity of paint ball games designed to attract new youth to our Youth programs.
Children's Ministry Team The CIAs are averaging 25 students. They will be holding a fund raiser dinner on the first Sunday of November to raise additional funds for their Operation Christmas Child project. The team reported that the Van Ministry has had a positive impact on the attendance of their Wednesday evening meetings. The van is picking up new children that have not previously attended CIA meetings.
Men's Ministry Team The men have been meeting regularly for a Men's Breakfast once a month. They are looking forward to having regular meetings at 8:15 AM each Sunday, while still continuing the monthly breakfast meetings.
Technology Team To help track requests for service videos, the Technology Team will be providing a request sheet for individuals to record their requests. John Moses reported that Trevor Feldhausen will be assisting him with the sound board.
Outreach Team A home Bible Study group has formed and will meet in the home of Bryce and Tammie Thompson. The youth group under the guidance of Breonna Coleman will provide this group with childcare services at the church. The Church Membership voted to pay each of the two youth who perform this service $20.00 weekly for their time.
Church Office Team Tammie Thompson will begin serving at the church's Webmaster, and Jeremy Coleman will continue his contributions to the website by managing the Youth Pages.
Usher Team Four men have volunteered to regularly serve at Ushers. A discussion was initiated regarding the need to have some at the door to greet people as they arrive for services, to direct newcomers to the appropriate class, and to assist individuals with their special needs in arrival from their cars.
Transportation Team The newly formed Transportation Team has really been an asset to both the CIAs and to the Youth. They already often have to make more than one trip to pickup children for their programs. The need to have adult supervision at the Church on Wednesday evenings to supervise the first van load of children while the van drivers go back for the second van load of children.
Old Business In old business, it was announced that the annual Church Letter for the Association has been submitted. $250 in expense was approved for repairs to the chimney at the parsonage was approved.
New Business For new business, the Church Membership elected Messengers to serve at the upcoming associational and state meetings. The Membership approved the expense in the range of $300-$400 to obtain graphics identifying our van as belonging to Turpin Baptist Church. The identification is necessary because the van is operating with nonprofit tags.
